Seems Illinois.........
« on: January 13, 2023, 03:03:39 AM »
has now jumped on the assault weapons ban(wagon).
https://abc7chicago.com/illinois-assault-weapons-ban-2023-weapon-il-bill/12687878/

And more than a few Sheriff's are saying they're not going to be enforcing the registration portion of it.

And the governor has threatened them with thier jobs;

Just keeps getting worse.   Seems to me the manufacturers should tell these areas that want to step on the second amendment that they no longer have anything to sell them when thier law enforcement divisions go looking for upgrades or new weaponry.  I'm sure that the lawmakers will change thier tune real quick when they figure out that there's no longer any protection for any of them due to lack of weaponry.

Just my opine.....Roger

Perhaps governor JB should check whether he has authority enough to take on the Sheriffs...

Sheriff depts. are doing the right thing. As with the military, took an oath to the Constitution, not a political agenda. Banning so called assault weapons will do nothing. How many are shot in Chicago, with firearms that do not fall into what they consider an assault weapon. Just another political ploy for control.

Total hypocrisy! Governor says sheriffs need to do their jobs because they took an oath? What about the oath he took; to uphold and defend the constitution. That would include the second amendment, no?

That may be true, Lloyd, but IMO, it's a short-sighted attitude.
Selling a lot in the short term nets a nice tidy profit.  Allowing those who would run rampant over the 2nd will embolden them, and cause them to file massive, and multiple lawsuits against the industry, bankrupting them, or at least hurting the profit margin(s).
Yes, there's legal protections in place, at the moment, but those in power will surely try their damndest to make those disappear.

Just my thoughts.....Roger
