Cast is a world unto itself, and those are mighty good results for a first time out. I'd be inclined to throw that first shot in the first group out if it came from a cold clean barrel.

The 170 grain bullet is clearly trying to shoot. The four touching tell you that. A little wiggling around with the powder charge should improve things a lot.

I never had much luck with cast bullets, but those that do told me to remember one thing, faster is not always better with cast bullets.

I read once in a magazine that a good rifle seems to always like near max charges (jacketed ammo) but that doesn't seem to be true for cast bullets.

I think I would try tweaking that H4227 load and the 150gr too.  That is looking real promising.

Looks alot like what I've been getting outta my max, gonna try some of DJs cast bullets tommarow if the weather will let me. My Max hasn't shown a real prefrence yet on bullet size but I like the way you can hear the 180gr lead hit the backstop a thump like that has gotta hurt.

And a small byline the Wildcats have thumpped the SEC and now there coming for the rest of ya..... GO CATS!
