If you're talking about "LA's Totally Awesome All-Purpose Cleaner" they still have it at the dollar store near me. It works great! I have used 409 in the past but now I use LA's Totally Awesome.

buddy of mine makes his own. He just puts a teespoon of dawn dish soap in a spray bottle and fills it with water. He does the same for windshield washer fluid but adds some isopropyl alcohol to keep it from freezing. says it works as good as any of the store bought ones. Me? Ive got a wife thats addicted to cleaning products and she always comes home with the latest and greatest. Only thing she stubborn about is dawn dish soap. She wont buy anything else.

I use what the wife buys when she ropes me into doing house work. I believe she has settled on Lysol spray. Most of my outside cleaning jobs need something a bit stronger. Although there are about a jillion gun cleaning products lurking to get your hard earned and just about now worthless dollar I am a big fan of 91% rubbing alcohol. There are a few things that it won't touch but it gets most.

  Another helper that I recently discovered ..cider vinegar..
 

  I usually use clear vinegar for the convenience. Cleans all kinds of stuff..  You have some rusty wrenches and/or sockets?
  I found some tucked away in a wet place...very rusty..left them to soak in cider for 24 hours..most rust gone, and finish job with brush or steel wool and oil.

  Cleans gun parts well too..

    Among many uses, I put vinegar in my wash.

I use the Dollar General brand of dish soap. Used Dawn, really couldn't tell the difference. Really hot water and a good scrubby and plate's and utensils, pots and pans all seem clean to me. Since on the bottle it says, ''compare to Dawn'', I figure that what ever chemical company that makes Dawn, makes the store brand. And Dollar General doesn't spend millions of dollars in TV advertising like Dawn, therefore can sell cheaper.

Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar (maybe both), is acetic acid. I’ve used it to clean rust from garden tools. After that, just keep them wiped down with a light film of oil. Kills weeds too. It’s good stuff to keep around the house, lots of uses.

cider vinegar is suppose to be good for you to drink by adding tea spoon to a glass of water. tried it and it tastes terrible.
