nickelite
« on: March 18, 2004, 04:55:45 PM »
a friend gave me a big ole bar of soft lead, then pitched me a small, 8-10 inch bar of hard silverystuff, that says "nickelite" in big letters across the top. is this babbit? is it useful for casting/mixing/alloying to cast pistol bullets?i've been using range lead, picked up from the berms (about 400 lb.s so far)that shoots extremely well when made into lee tumble lubed 200 gr. semis for the kimber.i'm now almost "lead poor"...another friend was moving, and called to ask if i wanted his already carefully alloyed ingots, if so bring a five gallon bucket...i left with the saturn riding on the back axles, the five gallon bucket was for wheelweights, the rest was in ingots, along with 50/50 bar solder, linotype, etc.i must be a redneck, it was really fun melting those wheelweights down!
