New member.....getting ready to buy Ruger Single-six..
« on: April 13, 2004, 12:32:32 PM »
My name is Jim and this looks like the place to be...I have a Ruger 22/45, about a month now and really love it. So, this weekend there is a gun show, in the Dallas area, and I will be lookiing for a Ruger single six, gotta have one.. A blue one, 6 1/2".  Now is shooting the mags. alot of fun or not? Should I go for the converter combo to shoot them? ALso, all I shoot is CCI Mini-Mags, no jams no problems after 500 rounds. If I go with the mag. converter should I go with CCI mags for it? Or is another brand as good? I want to also cut a deal for a case of CCI ammo...
Let me know what you think...
Thanks,

Jim

Jim, I have A ss in stainless 6.5. I have found the cci mini mags shoot the best for me. In the magnum cylinder I also like the maxi mags, winchester 50 gr. hollow points in the grey box also produce good results. I to have A 22/45 I just picked up last week. Got the 5.5 blued version. Have shot 200 rounds of the mini mags flawlessly, accuracy seems pretty good right around an inch at 25 yds. off A rest is my best group so far. Love the 22/45.

SS 6.5 is really the model I want, but I can't cut the extra for ss.... My 22/45 is blue 5.5" bull...The best thing I bought for it is the Ultimate Clip loader.....Loads a clip in 3 seconds, really......Makes shooting more fun, even the wife thought it was a good idea............

Take care,

Jim

Nice picture, beautiful gun..... Is that the combo? If so, do you shoot the .22 mag? I'm trying to figure out if the mag. is worth getting or not.  I thought it would be fun to shoot, but from the posts I have been reading maybe not..........

The mag is definitely fun to shoot, more expensive, but fun to shoot. Make sure you have a set of earplugs when shooting the mag, it is a very loud shrill report.

Went to the gun show this past Sat. and picked up a blue single-six combo from a private dealer, great price, no sales tax..Stopped and got some Dynapoint .22 MAGS to try out this week at the range, can't wait....The gun looked like it had been fired about a dozen times, broke it down and cleaned it, came with orginial box and all paper work.....$230. Think I did good....
