You'd have to check the serial number to figure out how old. Couple easy checks are: which hammer does it have, you said no selector on top, but did it have a slide (pushbutton) in the hammer. Also look at where the pivot pin is, that will tell you if it's easy opening or not. If it's above the trigger it's easy opening, if there's no pin there then it's pre-easy opening. If you have the serial number you can go to a bunch of places that have the list of serial numbers vs year built. About as close as you can get is which half of the year it was built. I've got the exploded view of the different models if you're that interested. But the 375 Win barrel is making a pretty strong comeback since it's a straight wall cartridge. Barrels have started going up in price. Although the brake brings the price down a little. Overall if it's in good condition (and I'd pull it apart and make sure it is, along with scoping the bore) $300 is a pretty good price.
