I was wondering what you all do with this little handgun. Punch Paper? Hunt Vermin? Seek out the elusive Carpenter Bee? Let me know...
Go out and get yourself a Concealed Weapons License. I did. :gun4:

I gave up hunting about 45 years ago, so I just kill cans and bottles and paper targets.  I have a lot of handguns, but the one I carry with me most often when I go out in the wild is the Single Six--no particular reason--I just like the gun.

It only let me make one choice, but I shoot everything mentioned, and then a lot more stuff with mine.

:D Ya well here in Canada all I am allowed to do with it is shoot paper pretty much, but if i could I would shoot everything this little gun could bring down ( within reason of course).
They are great little guns and I like my new hogue grips on it too. Sadly this is my only handgun right now, so I have to buy it some companions ( don't want it to get lonely). I am strongly considering a ruger 22/45, blackhawk .357 mag, and several others.  8)
Good topic, I just love to talk about my single six.....Just ask anyone who knows me , they can hardly get me to shut up about it ( and yes I am pretty new too handguns if you can't tell )

My SS is, of course, my designated BEE gun, but I do train it on aluminum plates at 70 yds (with solids, not shot) and hit them most of the time.

All of the above.
More vermin and stuff that needs kill'n have died as a result of this gun than anything else I own. I go strapped to do my mowing a lot of the time and it's amazing how they will ignore the tractor so long as you don't stop.

Like Magooch, this is my woods bumming gun.  Squirrels, fox, rabbits, woodchucks etc.

I liked it so much I had Dave Clements do considerable work to let it be all it could be.  The LR cylinder he made to match specs shoots incredible.

In my part of PA, this is way more useful than a big bore; I get to shoot it all the time.

My new to me Old model Single Six....
« Reply #12 on: October 06, 2004, 08:23:20 AM »
I recently purchased a new to me Old Model 3-screw Single Six that had been down at a local gun store for almost a year on consignment.  I thought he was asking to much, soon he lowered the price, after that I recieved a $50 gift certificate to the gun store for Christmas, and then I remembered $100. worth of quarters I had rolled and put away in the closet - so I went down and bought it for next to nothing more out of my pocket.

It has 5 1/2" barrel, adjustable sights, and only came with the .22 mag cylinder. This was perfect for me because I wanted to sight it in and leave it as a .22 mag, even if it came with both cylinders.  So far I've only tried 4 different types of ammo through it, and it seems to like the 50 grn Gold Dot HP ammo best.  I've read somewhere that this bullet was designed to hold together for use on furbearing critters such as coyote, fox, etc. - which is just what I had in mind, along with putting down the big Snowshoe Rabbits we have up here.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your "new to you" single six, I think they are perfect lil' throw it in and go woods bumming or riding around guns!!

I shoot alot of steel knock down plates with mine.   And it is also my full time woods gun with the .22 mag cylinder.  I've shot alot of tree rats, rabbits, coon, chucks, fox, coyote, feral cats, porcupine and a few skunks.
This .22 is my most favorite handgun that i own next to my Glocks.
