10-22 Magnum scope trouble
« on: March 23, 2004, 09:04:11 AM »
I just read a thread on www.rimfirecentral.com about a problem with the scope not stayin' put in Ruger rings. In a few cases the recoil completely messed up the scope.
I have a brand new 10-22 mag and I'm wondering whether to fire it or to just sell it as new and unfired.
Has anyone here ever had trouble with the scope sliden' around on their 10-22?
Thanks for you help

Burris used to and still might supply their rings with friction tape to line the inside bottom of the rings. Just use a piece of 10#-15# paper to line your rings and your scope won't move.

bushmaster,

I may qualify in answering this question as I have 5 10/22's(lr), had one 10/22M(.22 WMR) that I sold to make room for a 77/22 in .22 WMR and two other 77/22's and none have ever had a problem with the scope sliding around.  Never heard of anyone else having that problem either.  I would not worry about it, mount a good scope on your 10/22 and have fun.  Lawdog

I just sold a Ruger 10/22 magnum about a month or so ago. I've had it for a good while, and ran probably 7000-8000 rounds of mostly hyper velocity, and heavy(50g) loads through it.

I mounted a Leupold 6x36 on it when I bought it new(in the Ruger rings), and it never gave me a single problem. I also know a few other local guys around me that have 10/22 magnums, and none of them have had any such problems either that I know of.
