Sims recoil pad #10031
« on: March 24, 2004, 02:51:21 PM »
Has anyone attempted to put the Sims model # 10031 (encore synthetic stock) on one of the Boyd laminated stocks ? If so, how much altering was necessary & was it worth the trouble of doing ??

Thanks

Swanny

You need to measure the end of your stock and see if it is equal to, or
smaller than the size of the #10031 buttpad: 4-11/16"Lx1-9/16"Wx1-5/8"H.
You may need to redrill one or both holes for it to fit, even if the pad will
cover it.

I got the oversize Sims pad for my laminated Boyd buttstock. Luckily, the
holes were the same and the pad overlapped the buttstock all the way
around. From there, I used a stationary belt sander to get the pad down
to size. The last few passes are tricky to keep the sander from getting
into the wood.  But it was WORTH it!!!!

New Limbsaver pad tonight!

Bought my 10031 tonight at a local store and installed it in about 20 minutes.  Perfect fit on the Encore Realtree Hardwoods camo stock.  Obviously designed for it.  unscrew the old--lay the new one in and screw it on.  Easy!

Lots of room in the hollow stock for something--just not sure what!

The real test of success will come when I shoot it this weekend to see if there is a difference.  Appears to be about 1/2 inch longer LOP than the original setup.
