A touch of history...Don't use the term, "McCarthyism"..
« on: June 17, 2023, 03:04:19 AM »
  Why not?  Well, because it is a leftist slur against a man who was quite prescient and in turn, warned folks years ahead of events..

  Sen Joseph McCarthy, back in the 1950s, was warning people how Soviet Communist sympathizers were even then, infiltrating the government,
  the media, the film industry, community organizations and universities.
   He also claimed that they were infiltrating the CIA and the atomic energy business.  (later, the Rosenbergs, Walkers and others were apprehended..)

   So, was he correct?  Or should his name still be disparaged?

McCarthy was a bomb-thrower—and, in a sense, that is all he was. He would make an outrageous charge, almost always with little or no evidentiary basis, and then he would surf the aftershocks. When these subsided, he threw another bomb. He knew that every time he did it reporters had two options. They could present what he said neutrally, or they could contest its veracity. He cared little which they did, nor did he care that, in his entire career as a Communist-hunter, he never sent a single “subversive” to jail. What mattered was that he was controlling the conversation.

Sound familiar?

  From Trumpy;

  " McCarthy was a bomb-thrower—and, in a sense, that is all he was. He would make an outrageous charge, almost always with little or no evidentiary basis, "

   Little or no evidentiary basis?  I think we are living through that evidence, especially now !

  One man's "bomb thrower' is another man's "sagacious observer"..

  He appears to have been perceptive to the extreme, and well ahead of the curve...seeing the inroads Marxism has made in the media, film industry and universities..and poisoning many vulnerable minds..
