It’s not a bad idea to stock some food, batteries, water purification, medicine etc. I really like the mountain house stuff but I have a bucket of wise company food and I’ll try some and report back on what I think of it.

Ok, tried the wise co. Savory stroganoff and it was decent. Everyone liked it. Taste I give it a 6 out of 10 and worth the money as a backpack or survival food where lightweight and long shelf life is needed. I would think with a bit of imagination you could doctor it up some...

I've got a case of MRE's, and a few cases of assorted food stashed. More than willing to help out a couple neighbors that have kids. If possible, everybody ought to have at least a week or 2 of food stashed. Just common sense to me.

Nobody knows how to grow vegetables
process or can vegetables.  Nobody can
fish or hunt or dress their fish or game
or put it into condition for eating or safe
storage

A person would be wise to buy a truck
bed full of jars and lids and rings and
several hundred pounds of assorted
Morton's pickling salt and cures and
bulk spices

JMO- unless you're got 2 tanker trucks
of fuel for a generator in your backyard,
I wouldn't consider it a long term solution

Part of the  problem when folks are not aware of history..  Wherever socialism/Marxism takes hold..shortages soon develop...It happened in the Soviet Union, China, Cuba and Venezuela..

   One reason (among many) is that the top honchos of those systems don't trust anybody below them, since they suspect that others will be as
  corrupt, deceitful as they themselves were with the government they "replaced"..

  So, all decisions are made by "central planning", and central planning cannot adjust for local jurisdictions..  Therefore, supply lines are all screwed
   up, and there may be an overabundance and waste in one area, while there is starvation in another.

  The top leaders are corrupt..schemeing for all they can salt away before collapse..and their underlings are doing the same.

   Look at Putin, for example!  He is KGB trained, and runs the same way as the old Soviet Union did.

  So he sends 300 tanks to the Ukraine, not knowing they have been stripped of some electronics and the fuel tanks that were supposed to be 'war
   ready' were almost out of fuel..  On the trucks, tires purchased were cheap Chinese rubber...and perhaps you have heard the reports that
     supposed first class body armor was just plastic or rubber plates..sewed into the armor plate pockets..

  Under socialism/Communism all th e"party" big shots are fleecing the people..while the people suffer..
