Walther P99 for CCW?
« on: February 26, 2003, 07:30:02 AM »
I had looked at the S&W SW40VE and really liked the way it felt in my hand. Then I spotted the Walther P99. I think I kike this model a little better.

Just wanted to know if anyone had one, what they thought.

Also, how practical would the P99 be for CCW?

Thx in advance.

check the post on "walther problem" and my related comments. i love the ppk-but mine and obviously others have a problem with hollow points. i'm in the process of seeing if i can find any that it will eat--i've got a lead on one. i'll post after ive run a box thru.

Look at the new smithy P99 in sub compact. Their new one is a chopped 3.5 inches. This would be a good carry gun. Comes in 9mm and 40 cal.
GUN CONTROL IS KEEPING IT BETWEEN THE 9 AND 10 RING.

i agree with britt--they are really nice--and better yet the cal. offered--it was a hard choice for me to get the sig--but i wanted something a bit larger as i have a couple of ppk's, a s&w snubbie--but i thought about it.

My Walther P99 is superbly accurate and 100% reliable with all types of ammo. Just BE SURE to get a 100& GERMAN-made P99. Some are a mix of German/S&W parts. Not all P99s are created equal.

a-kayaker:  why not, they are excellent pieces of the highest quality.  R. Tillery is right, get yourself one that is 100% German made - no quality problems there.  Mikey.

williamlayton:  maybe she just needed to get past that break-in point, or maybe the newer hollow-points you were firing have a different ogive design to facilitate chambering.  Mikey.
