nephew came over with an old rem model 8 .35 rem that a guy gave to him. he said he had no use for an old gun like that and asked if i wanted it. i couldnt say yes faster. i felt guilty taking it for free because hes a town police officer that isnt making big money and has two kids so i told him id trade. he said what he wanted was a smith shield or a lc9 ruger and i have 3 9mm shields so we both walked away happy. havent loaded 35s for years but had a box of 50 and took it out yesterday and shot them up and it didnt miss a beat. i had one tears ago in .30 but gave it to rob applegate in exchange for him building me a 475 linebaugh 94 marlin. he collected them and i would have given him this one if he hadnt passed. so this one i will keep.

Interesting Browning design. I have never had the pleasure of seeing or shooting one. Quite a history surrounding this rifle. First successful Autoloading hunting rifle.

Yeah
Many in this area hold the opinion that
B&C were some kind of folk heroes.
Blanche is interred about 20 feet from
my maternal grandparents.
My granny had a hissy fit about it
when she was put there.
Some of the other relatives of the
Barrows are scattered around the
same cemetery, mostly at the back

carried and used those old
Remingtons, as well as corrections
officers. Lots of Rangers like
Hamer favored them for years

  When I served the Army as a lifeguard at Ft Hood, a good friend I served with, claimed Clyde as his cousin.  I don't know anything about Clyde..but
   Sgt Charlie was a darn nice guy..

   Yes some criminals over the years, were hailed as "heroes", often because they gave a small portion of their ill gotten gains to the poor
    or down trodden.

  Bonnie & Clyde, Jesse James and perhaps even Robin Hood (or his name source) qualify.  It is a game many criminal organizations play today.

  The cartel every so often buy groceries for a neighborhood, or helps an ailing child, and so buys coverage from the local "peasants".

  Hamas does the same thing..as do many Communist insurgencies..

Some years ago I was hunting a piece
of forest land on a drawing hunt, and
I'd walked a compass line down to the
river and hadn't seen anything or heard
anybody else shoot. I cut back through
to the road/goatpath back towards the
truck and passed an older man heading
back the opposite direction.
He had one of those old 1907 Winchester
351SL rifles that was in pretty good shape.
He told me that it was his daddy's (?)
only rifle, and that it had been his only
rifle since his daddy passed it to him.
He didn't have any idea how many deer
and swine had been rendered with that
old gun, but I imagine it was a good many.
Not sure how long Winchester sold
those, but buying one new and using it
all your life, then a young man using it
all his life had to have been a long long
time. I would imagine it could tell
some stories
