Open question.. why does it always take bundles of cash?
« on: November 09, 2023, 05:09:21 AM »
It seems that when an industry, a farm or auto repair shop has a problem, they almost always solve that problem at little extra cost.

If there is a safety problem, a couple short classes will correct it.  If there is a process problem, usually a simple change in procedure will fix the problem

Whyu is ity then, that when any problem crops up where government and taxes are involved...any kind of problem solving, requires tons of cash?

Congress people seem to brag how they have voted to spend $20,000,000 or $70,000,000 to solve a problem..
..And it is often only a safety or process problem, which a farmer of businessman would solve with proper instructions or a process changee.

I only bring this up because i watched som hearings this morning, where some polirician bragged of how many $$$ she had voted to be thrown at
  the problem.

Perhaps the problem is one of morals, character  theft..or maybe a firing is in order.... all the money in the world won't solve such a problem, when
more likely, some simple discipline wouild do the job... !
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

OSHA has 11 pages just to explain what a ladder is.  I worked for a gas company and had a shelf full of rules and regulations I had to check before we did anything to deviate from the norm.  The natural gas industry is the most regulated industry in America.  Regulations for pipeline construction, raising pressures, checking for leaks annually, pricing of the gas, different grades of leaks (1,2,an 3).  1 being the most flammable and dangerous, 2 non flammable but has to be repaired within a certain time frame, and 3 non flammable and very minor, and has to be monitored until repaired later.  The list is long on things such as fire extinguishers, vehicles, stairs with or without handrails.  I'm retired, don't even want to think about it any more.

Oh, gas from the wellhead is taxed when they sell it to the cross country pipeline, then taxed again when they sell it to the utility, then taxed again when they sell it to you.  So gasoline is the same.  Gasoline from the refinery might be sold for $0.25 cents, but after transmission costs and taxes from sales tax, federal, state, and local taxes you pay $3 or more.

I'll throw the USPS  out there as an example.
Some time back, they eliminated the postal
stamp vending machines because they declared
it was digging into the employee's work.
They didn't move faster at the counter and
serve people any faster. You also have to stand
in line behind border jumpers that bring a 5
year old as an interpreter and have no
identification to claim their package from meckseeko
with,  and the woke black woman looking for
an argument from the indifferent counter person.
Uh,  all I need is a book of stamps, and
I have exact change in hand.
I've had packages from the supply place in
michigan make it all the way to the local P.O.
and disappear into thin air. They track packages
and they're photographed on arrival as proof
they made it to the P.O. destination.
They're very reluctant to investigate or prosecute
fellow employees ( I found the hard way)
When shipping some items to the eastern part
of the country,  I found that the package is trucked
from the local P O. about 40+ miles WEST to
a regional warehouse or whatever it is before
beginning it's journey right back past here
many miles to the east.
This adds an extra 1-2 days to the journey.

All that is so more postal workers can lay hands  on
a package and justify their jobs at the expense
of speed and streamlining the trip.
Lots of pork barrel in all aspects of life in
this nation.

Just one lonely example

I completely understand
4 decades + in the automotive industry is very similar
as far as bureaucracy, and not just from the business
workings.
Factory job certifications and A.S.E certifications and
certifications to operate a forklift for insurance purposes,
and certifications from T.D.E.Q. and certifications from
A.P.I. for handling oil and fluids,  certifications for
handling haz-mat and ORM-D goodies ( airbags are
an explosive to bureaucrats)
Not to mention time for safety classes and tests
and certifications and surety bonds because of
the very expensive items handled every day.
Warranty policy and procedures classes from the
manufacturers, online work knowledge classes
from the manufacturers,  etc.   etc  etc. etc. etc.
etc.  etc. etc.

I've got boxes of certificates and pins and patches
and crap that combined with a couple of dollar
bills will buy me a loaf of light bread   :D

( Haha- forgot about all the stacks of MSDS I
used to have to keep organized in addition to
everything else)

Because most politicians, have not lived in the real world! When a problem is put in front of them, it's always somebody else's fault, and their not spending ''their'' money, their spending ''your'' money. Their not held accountable for their actions and decisions.
We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember(12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman

The basic difference is, the government is spending your money.
