  For is annoiuncing a new truck for less than $20 K...  Maybe with Toyota's ecent announcements, they must have seen "the handwriting on the wall"..

Toyota is also introducing another new truck called the Stout. It is actually a really nice looking truck and they claim it will go for $15,000. If it really sells at that they will sell a lot of them. They are shooting for 100,000 first year.

  My son has a 2023 Maverick, and he likes it very much..  lots of techy stuff, which he likes.  The only direct competition for the Maverick, is the new
   Hyundai Santa Cruz.  The paint job on his is a metallic orange/yellow...costs extra.  Quite a performer, to boot !

   The Maverick is selling so well, Toyota should go over great.

  This sudden cropping up of cheap trucks, makes me pause to think.." If it sounds too good to be true...well..."   

   Perhaps everybody has to counter Toyota's low price, stripped model somehow...even if they must start talking an impossibly cheap price,
   which may change when arriving at the showroom..
