Randy,
I know there are other's that own the savage . but I figured I would start with you and they can answer to. My kid's sitter's husband bought a savage last october and say's he has not been able to get anything to group out of it. all I can tell you is he use's the smokeless powder don't know what brand the powder is. he has used the sabot's that came with the gun hornady's with the green sabot powerbelt's, shockwave's . from 200 grs to I think he said 300 grs he went from 35 grs to 65 grs of powder. he would like any suggestion's . he has shot muzzle loader's for over 20 year's or better. but is new to the savage.

                                   Thank you.
Did you happen to shoot any 320 grs r.e.a.l bullet's through the white you tested? if so how do they shoot?

Toby Bridges has developed a tremendous list of VERY well proven combinations:

I like Accurate Arms 5744 powder myself in the Savage, I believe Vihtavouri N110 is still Toby's favorite-- with a 250 gr. SST.

No, never shot any REAL's. Had very good luck with the 460 gr. (actual weight 478 gr.) PowerPunches-- and Super 91's heavy .451 Whitworth bullets did better yet, 70 - 80 gr. T7 FFFg. The groups drifted from 1-1/4" to 1-5/8" at 100 yards (1342 fps w/ 80 gr. T7 FFFg)-- but settled down to 1" to 1-1/4" repeatably after I bedded the stock.

I like 43 grains of VihtaVouri N110 and  a 250 xtp.
By the way be sure to tell the guy he has to let the barrel cool down between shots. He needs to let the gun set for 10 to 15 minutes to cool down.  Groups go to hell if you shoot 3 times in 5 minutes.
Aim small don't miss.
