Austin's been turning lib/socialist
for a long time, but it really got rolling
when J.R. and the Ewings were on
television and people around the
country really thought that everybody
lived like they did on a ranch like
Southfork, and drove around in a
Mercedes sedan to check on all our
oil wells. Lots of people move to
these places for "the small town charm"
and to "put junior in a good school
to straighten him out " and end up
making a mess out of a formerly
great place. I've seen it happen a
lot. People move out and the small
farm to market roads get torn all
to pieces from the constant traffic
they weren't designed for, rural
water supplies get depleted from
people putting in lawns where
they really don't belong, etc.
Makes the taxes skyrocket as well.
Not enough space to list all the
messes that out-of-staters bring
with them like baggage
