Farming and country nostalgia..
« on: January 24, 2024, 03:41:20 AM »
My grandfather and Dad both used horses in farming, although Dad had tractors later.  One thing that sticks in my mind from those days, are the
celluloid decorations on the horses  harnesses..

Many farmers and loggers used them...and this celliuloid heart, was VERY popular.

Foremost, must be the celluloid heart that the reins (lines) were strung through a ring (about 3"), between the horses,. Below see photo off the web,
ahowing the celluloid heart and an accompanying photo, showing how it is used.

I understand that mules are more popular than horses in some places.  I had a fellow soldier in the Army, who lived somewhere near Cape Girardeau,
MO...who often made it clear that mules were superior to horses.  ;) ;D

Added.. My old Army buddy from Vermont recently passed..  Here is a photo of him and his wife, their team seems well decorated also..

  ..Includes a note from Anne..
