And as often as one hears and sees news about this kind of thing, people are STILL stupid enough to think they can beat physics.

There's a railroad underpass a few
miles to the west that's had warning
signs for as long as I've been aware
of what a warning sign is.
In a hard downpour the adjacent creek
will flood underneath the railroad
track as much as 5 or 6 feet depth
easily.
Yet there's always some goober brain
every time that plows straight into the
deep water and they usually make it
out ok, but not every time.
At one time they put up an expensive
automatic flood sensing block-off
gate to try to fix the issue, but it
got ran through several times even
with the flashing lights and gates
blocking the road, and it finally
was wrecked beyond repair and
was never replaced

   I have long wondered why highway departments do not paint depth measure lines at the deepest point of thes underpasses, so it can clearly be seen by anyone who may be too oblivious to facts.

 A guage such as shown below..placed or painted on the pillars at the deepest point, may avoid some misery.

that feature. Have had for at least 50
years.

No the problem is stupid pinheads.
Folks around here enable and make
excuses for them and expect a totally
foolproof world that presents no
danger whatsoever.
Many such as myself refer to chronically
stupid dumba$$es as darwin award winners,
but I'm sure that that will be against the
law soon to ridicule those who embrace
stupidity and uncivilized behavior

I've seen them also. Some folks just don't think physics applies to them. Actually it can help thin the gene Pool, which isn't such a bad thing.
