Which mount for my Howa...
« on: January 06, 2003, 08:14:34 AM »
I was just trying to get some opinions on which mount is preferred for my new Howa.  I bought the Leo  Std. base and rings, but I don't like the idea of a turn in ring base.  What are your opinions regarding the different methods?  Also, the Howa uses the same base as the Remington 700 Long Action.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

If you are willing to spend a little extra money, get the Warne Scope Mounts.  I own several of these all steel mounts and they are super strong - even on my hard kicking rifles like .338 Win. Mag. and .375 H&H.

CG,

On my 1500 Varmint,  I used Leupold two piece bases.  The gun is not a kicker (22-250) so a "turn in"  rear mount  was not a concern.  Two,  I used Burris Signature rings because of their synthetic inserts,  which help compensate for minor misalignment,  and are easier on the scopes finish.  Last,  I like the looks of the Leupold bases.   So far so good.
