I just bought a handi in .243 can I get a .223 bull for it?

I picked up a handi-rifle at a Pittsburgh Gunshow in .243
I wanted a .223 bull barrel (With a weaver base ) for mountain Rats (Ground hogs)
does the factory offer this for the handi? I couldn't pass it up for $140 (used but never fired) :)

Check the S# and call NEF with it to see what barrels it qualifies for.  ALL rifle receivers can have the 223 barrels, but if yours is newer the list is long of available calibers.

By the way, most are happiest with 85gr and lighter bullets for the 243's.
