My very favourite so far has been a little Carlton box call.  It has gotten me a lot of nice Toms.  However....last year I met a guy out in the woods that had a Quakerboy Hurricane, and I was amazed.  This was his first time Turkey hunting, but he sure taught ME a new trick. These wooden box calls are water-proof, and don't need chalk.  They also sound pretty durn good.  My only concern is how long the coating will last.  I will probably take both of them out opening day.  If it is a dry morning, I will use my old Carlton.
....make it count

Ditto, Lynch Foolproof. I killed my first bird with one 16 seasons ago, and to date I still get more responses with a box then anything else.

The Cane Creek Slate Call is the sweetest sounding call I have ever heard and brought me success twice this spring with both birds having > 10 inch beards...
I also like primos and lohman's mouth calls and have the most luck with double reed calls.
Can't wait till next year....I did buy one of those quaker boy hurricake box calls and am still trying to decide if I like it.

my most favorite call is. . . . .COME and get it!! and 2nd is. . . .Hey, let's eat!!

Oh, you mean TURKEY calls. . . . box, Hurricane by Quaker Boy. . .slater and ultimate push/pull by Knight & Hale. . . .mouth by Primo.

BUT, always 'looking' for that better call and usually fondle every call in the local sporting goods store.  got an old box of 'old' calls and get them out now and then and remember. . . .ain't life grand!!!

Primos raspy double hook, I've used lots of calls in the last 10yrs, but this has become my favorite and the favorite of a bunch of dead gobblers! It is now my go to call.

I had a good experience this year with the new Quaker Boy Hurricane box call.  It let me REALLY boom out some loud clucks and putts, but still allowed for nice guiet purrs and putts.  Before that my main call was the Woods wise mystic 2 in 1 bronzed crystal.  But that one got finnicky on me a few times.

I have to admit...I am a Primos aficionado. And since this is only my opinion, here it is.

Primos Power Crystal Slate call w/ Purple Heart Wood and Carbon Striker

Primos Box Cutter Box Call

Various Primos mouth calls....whatever is easier for you to use.

In Spring Gobbler Season of 2004, I wasn't able to get a gobbler to yelp, as many people in Susquehanna County in Pennsylvania, but I did manage to call a very vocal hen in within shooting range. Let's say if it was the Fall Season, I would have been walking out of the woods in the morning with a hen over my back. I was using the Power Crystal Slate call. You can go to [www.primos.com] for more information. You can hang me or praise me for my opinion, but that's what it is.

Where can a guy find one of those Lynch Foolproof Box Call, or a Quakerboy Hurricane Box Call? I've never seen these brands in the local sporting goods stores in my area of north-east Texas.
