.45acp/45 colt

I have a 45/410 barrel and I am wondering if 45acp can be shot out of this barrel. I have read that you use moon clips and shoot 45acp in 45 colt guns. I am new to this so asking the experts.

"Can't" is a very strong word, but I think it would be pretty difficult.  Moon clips are made to shoot .45 ACP in .45 Auto Rimmed chambers, not .45 Colt.  Headspace would be all wrong and I don't think the extractor would work.  It might be possible to install a .45 ACP extractor and let the round headspace on that, but the bullet would have an awfully long jump the the rifling.  It's already extra long due to the .410 part of the chambering.  I don't think accuracy would be very good.  If you want an ACP barrel, you'd be better off buying one, in my opinion.

The head space for the extra thick rim is not there in a TC . The 45AR is more than double the thickness of the 45 Colt rim. You can readily load down the 45 Colt or you can buy the cowboy loads or just plain old yellow box UMC's at Wally world , usually less than 10.00 a box. If you want   a load shorter 45's and don't know why you would  but you can load 45 S&W brass , sold by Starline Brass, and have a round a little shorter than a 45 Colt and a little longer than a 45 auto case? I have owned a TC barrel in 45 ACP and the extractor didn't work too well on a rimless case that size . The extractors on the encores seem to handle the chore better but long answer is you probably could if you spent enough money but why? just curious.
