$400 isn't a bad price, but what is the condition? I bought a new 7.5" Redhawk with blue finish and it also came with scope rings last fall for $449. If the gun is in good shape and considering the extras go for it. I would recomend the Uncle Mikes rubber grips over the Hogue they are not as bulky and givr better control.
The Blue Redhawk is my second one and they are great shooters.[/img]

Dealer Cost

Well the dealer cost on Ruger Reds are
388.95 (blue)+/- a couple bucks
426.95 (stainless)+/- a couple bucks
Remember the dealer needs to put shipping, his fee and tax on this pirce. But a new one should be in your range if spending 400 save a few more green slips of paper and grab a new one.
Just one man's opinion

I would aggree for the new one. I have large paws, so I go for the Pachmeyer declerator grips. The trigger needs help in da so I had the dealer install better springs. a little more gittas but the gun fits me fine, and its new.

If you go to the ruger website I think the redhawk in 44mag/stainless lists for around $650 now. BigBill
