Would it be possible to use a small amount of lead shot, #9 for example, in a spring airgun. I was thinking about sandwhiching some between two felt cleaning pellets and seeing how it works.

I'm guessing that it would only work at close range. Also was thinking that this might be effective for hunting. I might try this in my pneumatic pistol too.

Just thought I'd get some opinions before I tried it, thanks.

What's wrong with using just a pellet?

I can't see any way you'd get enough velocity to do anything constructive. The air would leak around the shot unless you have a .177 or .22 cal shotcup which to my knowledge, doesn't exist.

Also, you risk getting the shot into the compression chamber. Sounds like an easy way to ruin an air rifle to me.

they are aVAIABLE . Everything from the older crosman 1100 which uses reusable 380 caliber shotshell to the farco 28 gage airshotgun. and some others in between. You will find they are a bit underpowered for most game and in fact their main use was with heavy round balls for somewhat larger game in which they do quite well. Nothing slams a rabbit like a 375 round ball (about 85 grains in weight) sent downrange by a tuned crosman 1100. And a farco can do even better.

I said AIRSHOTGUNS are avaiable nor shotshells in 177 caliber.

I had the pleasure of shooting this prototype 12g air shotgun last year. It is "in the white" and fitted into a slave stock. Not a finished product yet but just a working development prototype.

If it is a .177 cal then Gamo makes a round ball but I would not use anything else other than pellets, you risk damaging your internals if you get an air leak.
