Last Christmas my Darling Wife got me a Taurus Tracker in 17 HRM. I Put a 4X leupold on it , tried different ammo, and loved it. Good trigger, accuracy better than what i had expected, was completely satisfied, even impressed with it.
Which brings us to March 15 when I ran across a super deal on a new Raging Bee. The Tracker had worked out so well, never anything wrong with a little more power, so I purchased it. Picked it up on a Friday used the included scope mount and had an extra Burris 10 ier laying around from one of me XP's, probably not what I would use permanently but great for load development. Saturday morning bright and early went to the range, target at 50yds., boy was I disappointed, it didn't shoot groups it shot patterns. Didn't have a lot of time to spend on it that morning, but what i saw was not good. Besides the poor accuracy cylinder touched the barrel in spots. Not hard against it but could hold it up to the light and there was several thousands difference in cylinder gap. Few days later after a good cleaning and a closer check i returned to the range wanted to see if it would shoot with 1 or 2 chambers before i returned it for repair. NOPE! That is about the time I looked at the taurus forum here read other peoples experience with repair at taurus and started to get a real bad feeling. Oh well, packed it up sent a letter stating the problems and closed it by stating they could repair, replace, or issue a full refund. Let me state here, in dealing with problems i always try to be pleasant and courteous, after rereading this letter it wasn't ugly but didn't sound real friendly either. Oh well off it went. They received it April 6, I called them a week later to make sure they were working on it, was told that it had just been logged in the day before, and was told they would repair it and have it back to me in 7 weeks. To say I was hot is a bit of an understatement, told the girl that was completely unacceptable and could i talk to her supervisor. She said he was unavailable but would have them call me later that day. Well they didn't call but she did, and told me it would be out in 2 weeks, this conversation took place this last Monday. I received it yesterday , everything looked good. Shot it this morning first groups at 50 yds. measured about 1" using all 8 holes. I am certainly satisfied with the job, before the best 6 shots was around 7".
Appreciate everything I read here about there customer service, made my response to them a little more forceful that it normally would be with this kind of situation. Don't know why everything worked out as well as it did. there customer service getting better? stars aligned right ? Lucky? don't know. Do know this revolver should have never left the factory in the condition it did, but they did take care of the problem.
Sorry for the length.
Thanks don
