I mix up my trap dye and water, then heat as normal to dye traps.  Old wax melts and floats on top.  Then I have to take special caution to get the top water with the wax poured off so not to contaminate the traps in the dye solution.  I dye and remove old wax at the same time.

i do my traps in a 35gal barrel with 1/2 of 55gal barrel as my wood heat containment area, that has 1" rerod pushed thru it 2/3 the way up. I toss in all my equipment and fill with water and bring to a boil, when i amalmost done i take a juice can of KEROSENE ( not gas as kerosene has lower flash point) STAND BACK  and toss it on the fire which cause a boil over of all the scum. I let it sit over night and next day any wax that may have been left will be hardened and floatin on the surface and skim off.
USING THIS METHOD BE VERY CAREFUL AND KEEP UR WITS ABOUT IT
