Generally speaking, what OAL seems to work the best out of your Encore rifle. . . . more specifically how far off of the lands seems to work best for you?  Does it seem consistent from one Encore caliber to another?

I would think that not only from one chambering to another, but from one bullet style to another as well as factoring in velocity.  Offhand I would say you are better off as long as possible.  Not much of an answer, but it's a good question.

Most people find their gun will like the bullet something like .010" to .030" of the lands.  This is easy in the single shots, varies on bolt guns because of magazine restrictions, and just about impossible on lever guns.  Of course switching bbls is basically like switching to a whole new gun which means re-testing lengths.  Its the beauty of reloading, every gun is its own indivdual with likes and dislikes.

My 22/250 Encore has such a deep throat that I cant get near the lands. I just load to book specifications. It shoots under 1/2" 100meter groups consistently so I can't complain.  KN

As previously stated .010 to .030 seem to work best in most barrels, over 50% of them. As for your barrel the only way you`ll really know is to try different OAL`s till you find what is best. Difference of less than .010 seem to be the min. that make a measurable difference. DO NOT  put the bullet against the lands with full power loads as the presure goes way up when you do that.
