starting to load 38 spl cowboy bullets ,my marlin likes a smaller flat point than my lee mold has.
What make of mold do you use for 158 gn bullets.Does lyman have a ridge ahead of crimp grove?

Mark,
This may help. This mold is for the "Silver Star Cowboy" 158Gn. boolit. Unlike the semi-wadcutters it dose not have a shoulder above the crimp groove. As to weather the mediplat will suit your Marlin, can't say.

I cast the Saeco-Redding #358, 158-gr. LFN bullet from their "traditional" designs in my Ruger revolvers and in both of my Marlin rifles. I get great accuracy with 3.6 grs. of Bullseye in .38 Special cases or 4.5 grs. of Bullseye in .357 Magnum cases. I tumble the bullets in Lee Liquid Alox and load them as-cast, unsized, and crimp separately using the Lee Factory Crimp die, which has the carbide profile sizer which eliminates the need to separately size the bullets. This is a great work saver and the rounds are accurate and cycle as reliably as a pony trotting.
