Has anyone had the couger on their frame removed? If so, to what depth and would you have to go, and does this in anyway weaken the frame? I've got a SS frame and have always been less than pleased with the engraving. I know at one time Fox Ridge offered a plain frame so this is where my idea comes from. Thanks

If you must have a frame with no etching, try Ed's TC and see if he has any or Virgin Valley. Shop around I've seen them for sale from time to time. DO NOT MACHINE THE FRAME!! You will be asking for problems.

I bet you could tear up alot of good endmills on an investment cast frame too. Not that I'd ever do it or suggest it, but grinding would be the way to go.

I havent had it done but it is possible, Gary Reeder will mill the frame and then re-engrave it to a pattern of your choice. It sure is expensive that way but you could email him for a price just to mill it.........I think Virgin Valley may do it also, email them and ask. It STILL sounds like a bad idea to me. Buy a new G2 frame and sell the old one.

The post fire frame would be extremly easy to clean up. The engraving on these frames is really just surface scratches. Original flatsides are hard to find, I have been looking for a stainless foxrige flatside now for almost 4 years. A first gen flatside will cost you over $2,000.00 :eek:

think about this for a second...why grind the etching out?how about soldering or epoxying thin silver metal over it and easing the forearm tolerances to fit?hey, just a thought!

and see what he says maybe he can cover it with some type of design sort of they do with tatoos they want to cover over. Once he is finished you won't even be able to tell anything elas was on the frame.

I have an original foxridge stainless flatside (one of the first hundred or so made) and if anyone of ya'll thinks its worth nearly $2000 :shock: please let me know -

I'll be happy to sell it for half that price. :grin:

Nate what you have is a foxridge flatside. Foxridge came out with these due to pressure from the tca, jd jones, and other custom contender builders. The foxridge frames sold for $225. for blue and $235. for stainless.For and additional $10. or $20. you could have the serial # personalized. Of course when TC discontinued the contender 4 years ago foxridge stopped offering frames almost immediately. I called the first week of the announcement and was told all flatside frames were gone. personally I think they were moved into inventory for parts and replacements.

An original 1st gen flatside will be blue, no safety, no trigger adjustments and a 4 digit serial #. Most likely under the 2000 range. Visit Ed's and look under collectable Contenders. He has had one listed now for over 2 years with P.O.R. on the price. Im afraid to ask how much cause I might start trying to justify the price.

If you are ever interested in selling your ss flatside let me know. I would be interested.

an assortment of game animals on the side plates for you but the process is not cheap check out his web site for the details. be prepared his work is excellent.
