Choice of alloys-which is best?
« on: April 11, 2004, 12:46:08 PM »
I can get an alloy that is 2% tin, 6% antimony, & 92% lead.  I can also get an alloy that is 4% tin, 12% antimony, & 84% lead.  For casting large caliber handgun bullets, which is best?  I'm interested in a bullet that will hold together and penetrate deeply.

both are a little higher in antimony then you really need for handguns If they were the same price id buy the one that is higher in antimony and cut it half and half with wheelweights that would make a great handgun alloy
