Maj. Gen. William E. Ingram, Jr., Adjutant General of the N.C. National Guard, presents an American flag to Isabel Carrasquillo during a full honors military funeral for her son, Army Spc. Jocelyn Carrasquillo, in Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, N.C., March 21, 2004. Spc. Carrasquillo, previously attached to the 30th Heavy Separate Brigade, is the first N.C. Guardsman killed while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. DoD photo by Tech. Sgt. Brian Christiansen, U.S. Air Force. (Released)

Don't ever let anyone tell you the National Guard does not matter. I spent 8 years in the Guard and was proud to do so. My hat goes off to them now & my heart goes out to the Moms & Dads who may loose their son or daughter in battle. I appreciate their bravery.

I spent 9 years regular and 25 full time National Guard. The Guard and Reserve have lost more folks in the desert than the regulars.

My hat is off to the reserve Gals and Guys, they have certainly paid their dues.

The Guard and Reserves put it all on the line too....regardless what Kerry and Co. try to say!
