This isn't exactly about the outdoors but since everyone seems to be talking about birds I thought I would put my $.02 in.
The other day at lunch time I had to go to Wal-Mart. I parked my truck and was making my way thru the cars to the front door when I came face to face (or should I say face to beak) with about a 5 foot emu. It scared the whatever out of me but didn't seem to bother the bird any. He was later caught by 2 police officers, a game warden and a couple of cowboys.
It seems that years ago people around here were going to make their fortune rasing these birds. When the market dried up a lot of them were turned loose. The fellow that I bought this place from had problems with them. I guess from what he was saying that they do not have the best disposition and the only way he could get rid of them was to shoot them.
