My 98k sporter
« on: May 28, 2004, 10:56:34 PM »
There are pics of my German 98k sporter in the album section (above) in the members gallery.  I had to use the Czech handguard with the Czech replacement barrel because there is no retaining ring infront of the rear site on the Czech barrel but thats the orginal 98 stock.  You can still see the cheesey nickle plated reciever because I haven't touched it up with black matte Aluma- Hyde II yet.   Those are $15 scopemounts from samco global arms for large ring mausers and can be used on small rings by changing the front base to a small ring base which I did on my 7mm mauser project gun with pics to post soon.  The gun look much better because of the bad pics  I'll have to get a better digital camera soon too.
This is my under $200 restoration of a German 98k mauser that cost me $20.                                                               BigBill
