Newbie encore question.
« on: April 11, 2004, 02:59:41 PM »
I just got my first TC. It is an Encore with 12" 454 casull barrel. I'm right handed & find if I hold it the same as I normally do I get my middle finger on left hand rapped kinda hard by the release lever on the trigger guard. I find this doesn't happen if I rest my middle finger on the release lever. Is there anything that can go bad wrong by holding in this fashion.

Holding your finger away from the recoil of the trigger guard cannot go wrong at all.

My Encore bangs my finger every once in a while when I forget to hold it out away from the hand grip.

Holding your finger along side the trigger guard will hurt nothing as far as firing the gun is concerned.

You can also install a heavier trigger guard spring. Under severe recoil the pistol jumps hard enough for the trigger guard lever to pivot toward your finger because of the inertia. A heavier spring will help that.   KN

Thanks for the replies. My main concern was having my middle finger on left hand breaking down the barrel during recoil. Although after firing a few times I can see that recoil is going to work the opposite of my fears.
