Guy's,

I got a hold of a older action that was fitted up with a good barrel and stock. I shoot fine, but has some pitting on the action that I've been keeping ahead of after cleaning it out and oiling the heck out of it.

Is there any chemicals you would recommend to correct the pitting. using a blueing touch up pen isn't really good enough. Any tips?

OxphoBlue from Brownells is a phosphating solution in reallity. It will kill the rust at the bottom of the pit..and halt further damage.. There is also a process using a battery charger and a solution of baking soda to eletrolysize any rust off the metal. The rust is converted from ferris oxide(red rust) to ferric oxide(black rust) which is a very stable.

Degreased her, and did the blue three times. She took real well.

yer right, the pits went black and all is well.

Thanks for the help... OH ya the new rings work well also. :grin:

Only thing left to do is shoot it now.
