Striker Spring for S&W Sigma
« on: April 16, 2004, 02:46:29 PM »
I'm trying to put a reduced power striker spring in a S&W model SW9G. The first step is to remove the extractor. My book says to put a screwdriver between the extractor and it's plunger and push it out and forward. I got the screwdriver in there, but it doesn't seem to want to move in any direction. I didn't want to force too hard. Does anyone know how to remove the extractor? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Push the extractor spring plug down(removing the tension), this will allow tge extractor to move down and forward..  Be careful... that spring and plunger will go an awful long ways...

Gunnut69,
Thanks - I knew you would have an answer for me. Does the striker block have to be pushed down at the same time in order for the extractor to move out? Any other tips you can think of for this project, other than holding on tight to that spring and plunger? I hope this will make the trigger pull a little lighter for my wife. Thanks again for your help.

daddywpb--Sorry I don't remember and don't have one here to check!..  Glad you found a spring..  Sorry but I haven't worked on one of these in some time..  Perhaps S&W might have tear down instructions..
