1 Postal Match Card ready
« on: April 18, 2004, 11:36:28 AM »
Well I finally got a card good enough to send in.
I went over to LeftoverDJ's to get a lesson in cast bullet sizing, and was able to test some rounds I had loaded at DJ's range.
Thanks to DJ for the help!

As far as the group, it's about the best my max has been able to do with me doing the shooting. There was some wind. The round chronographed around 1880 avg.
no x now!

Looks like a real winner, I still haven't got near that good with my Maxie.
no need for me to send in a card. Had gust of wind up to 33 MPH,
Not good shooting . Marv.

That group is even better than it looks and it looks pretty good to me. There was an intermittent breeze swirling mostly from behind us but unpredictably from the left or right. It wasn't anything like 33 mph gust, but it was sure enough to slide a bullet a caliber or so to either side.

Vance also got a five shot group with .38 Special wadcutters that was one slot just over an inch high. That's a lot of versatility in one rifle, and oughta pretty well answer the question of whether Maxing a Handi hurts accuracy with the shorter cases.
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

1880 fps with a 180gr is approaching 30-30 speeds.  Pretty good.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
