Favorite .41 mag loads
« on: March 31, 2004, 05:04:37 AM »
Got any sure-fire can't miss loads for this caliber?
So far my best is 210gr XPT over 19.5 gr of W296. Shoots with power and good accuracy.
I'd like to find some good cast-bullet load recomendatins. I have about 300 210 gr SWC lubed & ready to load. Any suggestions?

Since I started loading for this caliber many years ago, and because I am old and set in my ways And also because they have always worked great for me... I basically only load two loads.

210 Gr Lead SWC over 15.2 of 2400

210 XTP over 18 of 2400

A lot of people have gone away from 2400 but it has always performed well for me. I do always use magnum primers with it.

Good Luck!

I also favor 2400 in the .41RemMag. I started out using  Sierra 210/19.5/2400 as my hunting load. I still keep many hundreds of this load ready. My youngest son and granddaughter use it now as their hunting load. I have switched to a 250g cast bullet but still use 2400/17.5g with it.
Love those .41s'

Have used 13.5 gr. of IMR 800x for just years ove the Hornady XTP- However, I am setting up to go to lead, CP, or Dry Creek, shortly. The 800X does not meter as well as some, but I am not in any kind of rush with my hunting loads. Bump it up to 14.5 for 44 mag, and all is well  :-)

My favorite 41 magnum loads are pretty simple. first is 7.5 grains of unique or 8 grains of ww231 under a 215 grain hard cast lead swc. Nice plinking load or just all around fun load.
the second load is 19 grains of 2400 under the same bullet. Plenty of power and accuracy for any use from small game to big.
