Red dot for encore?
« on: April 23, 2004, 01:10:00 AM »
Can anyone recommend a red dot scope for the encore. I'm shooting a .444 so I need something that can handle a little recoil. How do you like the red dot scopes. I've never shot one but I'm looking for something that's easier to sight than a standard pistol scope.

I purchased a Nikon Monarch VSD back in Feb. that I have been really happy with.   Went with this one for the 1MOA dot capability.

Also have an older ultradot (http://www.ultradotusa.com/ud_ultra.html) that has served me well.  Thirdly I would recommend the Burris Speeddot 135 based on my recent research.

I have a accudot that works just fine , I dont like to use a battery powered sight for hunting for the fear that when it comes time for the shot the battery wll be dead.

I use red-dots a lot for handgun hunting. I always carry a spare battery. I leave my sight off until needed, it only takes a second to turn it on. I have never had the battery go dead. Also you can put a new battery in prior to going out. 8)
