I need to find out all the info on tcr's QUICK as possible..

I need to know how to tell the difference between tcr83 and the tcr87  ????

I know some of the tcr87 have a mag stamp. but I hear some 87's are mag but not stamped..

were there any Double set trigger models made in a tcr87 with a mag stamp or are they just factory converted tcr83's..

Did the serial number on the tcr83 and 87  run strait throw and dose any body have a time line what was made??

In general, the TCR83 was made only in the "deluxe" version with the set trigger. The TCR87 offered two versions the previous fancy version and a "Hunter" version with single trigger and non-checkered, screw-on forend. Also, there are differences in the degree of metal polishing between the two models (all the 83's were high polish, while the 87 Hunter was matte and the 87 Aristocrat was somewhere in between, based on examples I have seen). The MAG conversion was a retrofit option on the 83 and early 87's. At some point toward the end of production, it probably became standard and so there could be an 87 Aristocrat (double set trigger) that left the factory with the "improved=MAG=split" locking bolt . The fire at TC Arms spelled the end of the TCR and any custom shop barrels for it. More's the pity. These guns have a lot more class than any Encore.

Does anyone have a Redfield base for a TCR 83? I have the TCR Quick Release on mine and would rather have a Redfield Base to use some Redfield Rings I already have. Thanks for any info.

Like was posted earlier, the TCR 83 has the set triggers, and is high luster finish.  The TCR 87 had a single trigger and matt finish.  Then the Aristocrate came out and I did not notice any differance between it and my TCR 83.  I have to say it is the sweetist shooting gun that I own.  The Encore can't hold a candle to the TCR.  They are not even in the same league as far as I am concerned.  I own many barrels for my TCR 83, .243 Win, 7MM Mag, 308, 30-06, .350Rem Mag, .35 Whelen, .338 Win Mag, and a 3 1/2" 12ga barrel.  I sent mine back and had the MAG conversion done on my reciever.  Also I was plesently surprised a few weeks ago, when I first shot the .338 barrel at the lack of appearent recoil.  It affects me far less than my Ruger .338.  The TCR 83 is the sweetist shooting gun that I own.  Mine had brought down many Moose, Caribou, Black Bears, and one Grizzly.  I never counted the cayotes I shot with it down in New Mexico.

found info but now looking for serial #'s to give a better time line..

tcr83 aristocrat  83-until 87
tcr83 hunter single trigger 85 until 87

tcr87 hunter  87 - 92
tcr87 hunter shotgun 88 - 92
tcr87 deluxe 92-93 double trigger mag stamped 93-97 slowly dropped..
tcr87 hunter and shotgun single trigger mag stamped 92-97, 93-97 slowly dropped..
1997 the fire  made room for the new encore.

Another question i have when you got yours converted to mag did they stamp it and dose it look like the original factory stamp??

I have a tcr83 hunter and it is a sweet shooter but now looking a factory original tcr87 mag stamped I just found and bought one but im still not sure until i get some more info that it is not a converted 83 ..

When I sent mine back for the Mag conversion they stamped the reciever.  The stamp says MAG with a border around it.  It is stamped under the reciever just ahead of the trigger guard.  If I did know better it would look like it came from the factory that way.  At the time (1992) Fox Ridge said we had to have this conversion to use the heavier maginum calibers.  That's when I wanted a .338 barrel so I sent my reciever back for the conversion.  To be honest I never knew what they did other than stamp the reciever.  About two weeks ago I realised the locking mechanism (block) was split, where originally it was a single piece.   The only bad thing I can say about it is that the TCR will show signs of high pressure 1 1/2 grains of IMR 4350, before my Ruger .338s.  It's still the sweetist shooting gun that I own.  All those calibers in one gun.  I had one heck of a time getting a 12ga barrel though.  Luckily though I got the last model 12ga barrel with removiable chokes, and the 3 1/2" chamber.

If any of you guys are looking for a TCR 12 ga., there is one like new in the box at a gun shop here in western new york.I THINK it might even be unfired(i know the guy who has it on consignment there)

Sorry but I donn`t know to much about the TCR guns.I saw it while looking for my encore muzzleloader.I can tell you it has a single trigger(not double set).Did they make the 12ga. with a rifled slug barrel??If so ,I thick that is what it might be.I go by this shop quit often so I could check on any details if your really interested.By the way I`m new to this encore forum having just bought my first encore and will be looking for a rifle barrel.Ive been shooting NEF guns and thought I`d try one of these.                                                  Griz
