You betcha! I haven't found anyone else here that is building their own yet, so it's good to have you here to talk about this stuff. I have only built 2 flyrods so far, and several spinning and casting rods also. Very addictive.  What did you build and do you have any pictures of your rod yet? I'd love to see your first effort and hear the specifics of your project. My first is an Amtak 9' 4 piece 6 weight blank that I wrapped in chestnut with blue dun trim with single foot wire guides with a rosewood seat. I did a simple little diamond butt wrap on it and it didn't turn out too bad. I'll try to post some pictures if you are interested. The only thing that I would change is that I used a full wells grip instead of a reverse half wells, but I'm very happy with it all the same.

Flatlander,
I built a 7'-6" fly rod (GL Loomis) for my Dad. It was a kit from Cabelas.
No pictures - sorry. I think my next rod will be a 7'-6" fly rod built on a Rainshadow or St. Croix blank. I haven't tried to do any fancy wraps yet, maybe next time.

I just got done building a Forecast 7'6" 5 pc pack rod for a buddy of mine. We put on TiCh hardware and the blue ceramic ring guides. It was a sweet little rig. Moderate to fast action, and nice casting, especially for the $$ involved with the blank. I liked it so well I picked up another one for my wife. Cabela's is a good spot to get kits from, but if you need some other good component retailers, let me know. There are a ton of them and a couple of must-see websites as well.

Years ago I built a 6' flyrod for #4 weight line for fishing under the low hanging tree limbs at our club lake. Worked great!
