THOMPSON CENTER HUNTER PEEP

Well I had some time on my hands the other day and did get the t/c peep sight mounted on my hawkens.I did have some trouble trying to find the best location on the rear tang,I did finally drill @ tap two new holes on the tang,and the best location was about a 1/2 back from the front screw on the tang.The instruction that came with the sight did state to use the rear wood screw and drill a extra hole for the front mounting screw on the peep,but what I found was the sight picture was hard tp pick up.I did move the the peep a little forward and the sight picture was easy: Now to see threw.I hope it works out o.k.a day at the range will tell me if this spot I pick is o.k.

I have to say I was very impressed with the peep sight on the rifle ,brought the group down to about 1 1/2 at the 50 yard target,and the location was perfect.
I also did finally get the New Englader 54 cal. shooting great seems it shoots the real conical better without a wonder wad.The new englander with 70 grains of 3 f goex and a REAL 380 grain did shoot clover leafs groups at the 50 yard target all day.
The t/c flinter seem to like 80 grains of 3f goex and the REAL 320 grain conical did shoot real well may need a little more playing around with,but the groups did stay in a 1 1/2 cluster and the peep sight is great .

Thanks for sharing! Now tell us ---do you swab the bore after each shot? or after every three shot group? I've got a New Englander 50 cal. that shoots round ball into clover leafs at 50 yards  but I can't get it to shoot maxi or the Lee REAL bullets anywhere near as good as the round ball. WHAT'S YOU'RE SECRET?  :? --Willy

willy:I do swap the bore every shot but only with a dry patch @ every 5 shot I then use a spit patch.I did find that the new englander does not like pyrodex select and will shoot great when loaded with goex 3f.
