Base and Rings reccomendations....
« on: April 26, 2004, 03:55:11 AM »
Greetings all, I am new here but have been reading (and lurking) for a while....love the info and great exchange of info that occurs here.

I have a question on the prefered base an ring setup on the Encore type barrels....I have a .223 bull, a 209x.50 and a recently purchased 12ga fully rifled barrel that I need to put a scope on....any input on a rock solid setup would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, for both a 40mm a500mm objective scope....

Regards,

Lee

I like Warne's products!  They are a little heavy but I have had no problems with them as far as strength goes.

Another vote for Warne Maxima.  Heavy . . . Yes, Strong . . . no doubt.  Expensive . . . you get what you pay for.  Reccomended . . . highly!!!

Thank you everyone for the thought and recommendations...seems the Warne Maxima have overwhelming support here and probably for good reason...I will look into getting some of those for the new setup.  Many thanks again, much appreciated.

I'll give another thumbs up on the Warne rings. I just bought a set from Virgin Valley, and also got one of Virgin Valleys bases. The manner which the rings lock into the base is rock solid, and the base even allows for the use of 3 rings instead of just 2 if you so desire. I'm really pleased with mine. :agree:
