Chamber Adapters

You can get them from E Arthur Brown. http://www.eabco.com/sale8.html

I have one that will shoot the 22lr in a .223. It is okay at 25yds. Not great but would be able to hit a squirrel. I have two for my .375JDJ that will shoot 22LR. Yes, 375. They were special made by a machinist just to see if it could be done. They have a machined cartridge from steel that has a rifled tube attached with a rubber gromlet on the end to center it in the barrel. You push it into the barrel to where the Contender action will close, load a 22LR and fire away. He made it for carrying while hunting to take camp food like rabbits, squirrels and such without blowing them into twenty pieces with the .375 bullet. It works about the same as the other within 25yds. I can't seem to get it exactly centered and it always shoots high. I just put my front site under what ever I'm shooting at and it hits high.

Cartridge Adaptors?

Here's another: http://www.mcace.com/.  Nice workmanship, good prices.  I've had pretty good luck with the stainless 22LR/223 in my Contender carbine, but the blue 22mg/223 hasn't been so hot.  Go figure.  Don't know if its the difference in internal/external dimensions, material, finish, cartridges; who knows?  Kien Sabe'

Friends,
I am reluctant to say anything. Everytime I post one of the "experts" flames my response. But her I go again, I use a 22lrX223 adaptor I purchased from Cabelas and I could'nt be more pleased with it. It is very accurate. It takes longer between shots of course since the adaptor must be ejected and the 22 shell pushed out but it is a fun tool.

Chris - have had them for many, many years - so might be able to shed some light.   Mine are the originals from Harry Owen (Sports Specialties - CA) made decades ago from actual rifle barrels and brass stock - and I also bought some of his final inventory when he passed.   A couple of companies later, and its MCA that makes them now up in Alaska.   I think Harry's were better, but its pretty much a hit or miss thing as far as how well they really shoot.   Some barrels shoot them well - others just the opposite.   I've had/have 22 Pellet in 22 Hornet and 22-250; 22LR in 22 Hornet,  221FB, 222, 223, 22-250, 220 Swift; 22MAG in 222, 223, 22-250; 22 Hornet in 22-250, 220 Swift and way back when several for the semi-auto pistol calibers and a few for 308 and 30-06, probably a lot others way back I don't remember or didn't use.     Many were made just for the Contender - others for most other firearms using a transfer piston.   All actually work in the Contender/Encore - some in most other weapons - all a pain to reload except those for the Contender.   Out of all of them, the ones shooting 22LR that seemed to do the best in almost any firearm used in were the 222 adapters.   The 22 Hornet/22-250 is very accurate in my High Wall.   Over the years I gave away or sold most of the extras - then the ones I was keeping for my collection but never used myself to where I am down to only a few now from about 200 of them I had at one time.   Bottom line - are they worth the price of addmission?   Not in my opinion, but then only bug holes interest me at the ranges I shoot diggers at.   HTH - Larry
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I bought one from EABCO, and couldn't be more disappointed. Not EAB's fault; just not happy. Of course, I can get mine to shoot like twice, then it doesn't dent the primer enough for ignition. I wind up pitching some that have a scratch where a dent ought to be. Thought it was my hammer, but since it does it intially, I don't think that's the issue. Ah well, I wound up buying a 22LR Contender anyway. :)
