Moderator, I think this query might obtain better results were it in "Custom Rifles." What do you think?
What are the advantage and disadvantages among three types of double-barrelled flintlock mechanisms: swivel gun; over/under; and side-by-side?
Manufacture of over/under and side-by-sides appear to be reasonably uniform -- that is, there arent many ways to manufacture these barrels assemblies.
But swivel guns -- Im aware of at least three different ways of creating the rotation-and barrels locking assembly. And there are almost certainly more -- Leonard Day, David Price, and a Muzzle Blasts article (April 1990).
Since I am gathering information from which to make a decision, any first-hand experience, using these or making these, will be useful for me. I would prefer to avoid war stories and opinion without experience, but I dont want to cramp anyones style.
