I have and SVT that I use as my standard rifle. The trigger on it is set at about 12 oz. The weight of pull depends on the trigger gauge used, my gauge (old RCBS spring gauge shows about 8 oz, one of my friends gauges shows about 12-13 oz and his is probably closer to being correct). It takes some time to get it down this light. You will need to work both the weight of pull and sear engagement screw together to obtain this light of pull. The trigger is completely safe at the current adjustment. I have banged the rifle on the ground, slammed the bolt, etc. and can not make if go off without pulling the trigger. It is possible to get the pull lighter by changing the trigger spring. I did this and got it down to about 4 oz but found that this was to light for my liking. With the current setting, I can apply just enough pressure on the trigger to feel the skin indent on my trigger finger. At that point I hold what I have until I like my sight picture then apply just a little more pressure and the trigger breaks. Also, I adjusted the overtravel screw to allow the maximum overtravel possible (no trigger stop). I would highly recommend that adjustment. This is all very much to my liking and is the setting that I plan to stay with. I also had Briley (Houston, TX) add a barrel extension tube and weight to the rifle. This greatly improved the handling. This rifle will shot with the best of them and has delivered two master scores to date(35, 36 - all misses my fault.). This is included to let you know that the rifle is capable of shooting very good scores as the operated leaves lots to be desired. Hope this helps, please let me know if you need any additional information.
