Encore 209x50 Pistol
« on: April 28, 2004, 01:53:43 AM »
Anyone shoot one of these cannons?  I was lucky enough to do so.
They are extremely accurate.  I shot 80 grns of Pyrodex and a 245 grn PowerBelt and this gun could group 4" at 50 yards (free hand shooting).  The gun could shoot better than me.  I can't wait to get one!
My Glock is pending sale.  Once gone, the encore will be ordered.

Yep, I hunt with a 209x50 Encore pistol and it's great.  I shoot Hornady 300gr XTP/HP sabots (or T/C 300gr Shockwave sabots) over 100 grains of Pyrodex.  With a scope, you should get 3-4 inch groups (or better) after some practice.  I try to shoot from a 'hunting' rest, like leaning against a tree, or using a forked stick as a bipod.

I'm wondering if it's worth experimenting with Powerbelts or if I should just be satisfied with the accuracy I have now.

A couple of things: I use an earplug in my left ear, even when hunting, because these things are LOUD!  You can remove the extractor because I don't see that it does anything!  And buy a Peterson's Hammer Expander from Cabelas, especially if you use a scope.

Good luck!

I sold the Glock.  I should have the encore by the end of next week!
I can't wait to throw some lead.  This will be a fun gun to own!
