That would be 56grs. of 2f blackpowder and 34grs. of IMR3031 under
250gr. bullet.

how does the 38/56 compare with the 38/55 powder capacity and cartridge shape is brass avail for the 38/56 thanks artr

38-55 straight case; 38-56 BN case designed /introduced for the M86 Winchester. Also chambered for the Win. M85 Single Shot. IIRC, Marlin had a similar loading for their lever models.
38-55-, 55 grains of BP; 38-56, 56 grns of BP in the original loading balloon head case. W/ modern brass, case capacity is diminished somewhat due to different & improved case design.
