Difference Between 336 & 336A?
« on: September 13, 2004, 08:42:06 AM »
I need a little corporate knowledge here.  I have a 336 .30-30 with the 20" barrel.  I can pick up a 24" barrel for a 336A, also in .30-03 and I am thinking seriously about that.  So what is the difference between the 336 and 336A?  Is it just cosmetic, like one has walnut and the other hardwood, and the barrel will interchange, or is there something else I should be aware of?  I realize that I should have the local competent gunsmith do the actual change so headspace is correct.

Thanks for any input!

The 336 RC has barrel bands on the forend and mag tube and barrel. The 336 A has a rifle forend. I'm not sure if the mag tube is dovetailed in the bottom of the barrel.

Just checked my 336A.... no dovetail connected from mag tube to
 barrel.
30-30....45/70...... does anything else matter?
